Many people who know me know I’ve been a big Radiohead fan for a long time. Now I know what you’re thinking, and yes, it is very unusual for a mid-thirties internet geek to be a Radiohead fan, but indeed, I am the exception. Having been aware of a new album due out this fall, I was pleasantly surprised when my brother told me the new release, “In Rainbows,” is almost upon us.
But there’s a catch: you have to decide how much it’s worth to you, because that’s how much it’s going to cost you…
It’s up to you…No really, it’s up to you.
Leave it to the greatest band since the Beatles to continue breaking ground in the music industry. Now you can decide how much you want to pay for their album, including nothing at all. There is an option to buy a “discbox,” which consists of the new album on CD and two twelve inch vinyl records, a second CD with more new songs, and some digital photographs, artwork, and lyrics book, all of which is encased in a hardback book and slipcase for £40 (about $80 USD). Personally, I’ve already placed my order for the discbox because a) Radiohead is my favorite band ever and b) because I believe this is music history in the making.
The important thing to remember is this: if you won’t at least sign up for a free download from the most important band of our time, I can't be your friend anymore, and I really, really mean it.
Before I decide on how to respond to this obviouse gesture of intimidation...here is a very important question: Are you kicking family members to the curb for a lack of initiative on this offer as well?
Clearly this is a trick question because all of my family members are too intelligent and musically savvy to pass up this opportunity ;-)
