A Little Better Each Day

I was so sore yesteday it made it difficult to get into working. I've managed to fight through some back pain and sore muscles, however, and I'm feeling better all the time. My skin is getting darker and I'm probably losing about a pound every day. I felt like good progress was made today and I feel like I'm able to contribute much more just after three days of working. Today I plastered walls with Chris and a really great group of skilled workers including Shantha and Ranuka. We had a blast today teaching them to say "tight" when they approve of a job well done. They shared some Sinhalese profanity with us after making us promise to say we learned it from a tuk-tuk driver. Lots of laughs over that. Shantha invited Chris and I to his temple (Buddhist) and then to dinner at his house tomorrow night. I'm really looking forward to that. I've always been very interested in Buddhism and I'm very excited to have this unique opportunity.

Wow, it sounds like you're having a blast Jim. And, you're losing weight while doing it. Now when you get back home, you'll have to keep a routine going and work hard to keep going with it. I'm working on it too. But I'm so glad you're learning a lot and experiencing all of this. You'll remember this for the rest of your life!
